Miscellaneous news

We finally updated the Not One of Us website.

Mike O’Driscoll reviewed Not One of Us 39 in The Fix.

Last month I attended the annual conference of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), held this year in New Orleans. Because of the frog-strangling rain and thunderstorms (our flight from Boston even had to detour to avoid tornadoes), I didn’t get around as much as I wanted to. I did go out with friends for dinner and traditional jazz at The Palm Court Jazz Café on Decatur Street. Here is the one and only picture I took on the trip, during a rare moment when it wasn’t raining. This is Bourbon Street by day: it looks a lot different at night! What a feast for the senses.

I have been overwhelmed at work (film at eleven). We’ll have had $800,000 worth of surveys in the field in May through July.

I’m going to be at Readercon in July. I’d be interested to hear if anyone who has a story, a poem, or art in Not One of Us 39 or Home and Away (you know who you are) will be there.

The site looks great. I was going to write you awhile back when I received the last issue. I really liked Patricia Russo's story--at the end I had such a tangible feeling--I was there believing; I guess I'd gotten caught up! Also loved the atmosphere in "Ghostlight." I walked around for a while feeling draped in fog, swamp mist. Cool. And as always, I love Sonya's work--this one really conveyed a drum beat in that first stanza, and her images ... well, there is no one like her.

Then, I got busy at work and now the collection sits, though I did also read Michael Kelly because I'm particulary fond of his work, and this held true to what I love. I hope to finish it over my vacation.

Nice work. Glad you still manage all this with your busy work schedule!

Pat

Thanks for the kind words about Not One of Us 39. I totally forgot to mention the review Mike O'Driscoll wrote about NOU 39 in The Fix. I just added it to this post.
