We just signed a contract with CQ Press to do a book called American Public Opinion and Health Policy, which will take up a large proportion of my work life the next two years as its co-editor. In 16 chapters (about 200,000 words) and 125 tables, the book will examine public opinion on such important issues as health care costs, the uninsured, and Medicare.

I get to write the chapter on end-of-life issues, my main research interest, which I haven't had nearly enough time to work on lately. But I'll also be writing a hunk of the rest of the book, in addition to doing much of the editing.

While I'm in academic-geek mode, I'll also mention my latest publication credit, "The American Public and the Terri Schiavo Case," in Archives of Internal Medicine. My most recent acceptance was a co-authored chapter, "Research on Americans' Response to Bioterrorist Threats and Emerging Epidemics," for a book called Bioterrorism: New Research, to be published next year by Nova Science.

I may not necessarily understand everything you wrote in your recent sales, but I'll still congratulate you anyway. ;)

I can't think of anyone I'd rather have write an end-of-life chapter than you. Cool.

Congratulations on the book and chapter and article. I'm interested in reading all three and am glad that these topics are in your careful hands. Can we look up the Terry Schiavo article online? And again, congratulations--I love hearing news like this.
